MVP to be Renamed MISP?

THIS IS A RANT FROM OCTOBER OF 2006.

No, this isn't a rant because I'm just bitter that Jeter didn't win AL MVP. I agree with what Jeter himself said. "I would rather have the ring than the MVP." Why do you think ARod's MVP last year meant nothing. This is a rant because both MVP winners won because they had better stats that other people.

So, as I see this becoming a trend, let us be honest about this award. It doesn't stand for the Most Valuable Player. It stands for the Most Impressive Statistical Player. I propose we rename the award the MISP. But then I ask myself, aren't there offensive awards already being handed out? So why should we change the MVP? the MVP should go to the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER in the league! So, unless we actually make it that, let's rename this goddamn award!

and some people will argue that Papi shouldve won if it were based on most impressive stats. Technically I agree. BUT, let me give everyone who thinks that a news flash. Papi will NEVER win an MVP so long as he continues to sit on the bench while the rest of his teammates are grinding their asses out on the field.

I'm more ok with Howard winning than I am with Morneau for the simple fact that Howard WAS the Phillies. Morneau was NOT the twins, Santana was. Or even Mauer.. when was the last time a catcher won the batting title? oh... never! If you are not the most valuable player on your team, how are you the most valuable player in the league??

I still however have a problem with Howard winning the MVP because his team didn't make it to the playoffs, so he is only limitedly valuable.
